Our friend Kenta came by for a visit to show off his fancy car, drop off some tiny business cards, and talk about how ASR is a better show then E3. Kenta is continuing to work on his online magazine, Tokyo Drive. A good read for all things concerning parties we’ll never get into, cars we’ll never drive, and Japanese fashion moguls we’ll never meet. Always good to meet up with Kenta and here about his newest escapades.
Kenta telling me about how great this 370Z is to drive in the canyons.
Every time we see Kenta he is driving some rad car (remember that time he was doing 140 down the 405 in the IS-F on an empty tank?). This visit Kenta is driving the 370Z Nismo, he says it’s an awesome drive. We’ll take his word for it.
TED2010 happened last week here at Long Beach. TED started out as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. The range of topics and speakers, which include Bill Gates and James Cameron, have become even broader, yet the community have managed to keep it’s two purposes: To seek a deeper understanding of the world, and hope to turn that understanding into a better future for us all.
One thing that caught my eye was the topic of using lasers to control mosquito populations.
These lasers have the ability to track and kill mosquitoes and were made with parts found on eBay. Current methods of eradicating malaria aren’t working well in Third World countries, and so Intellectual Ventures Laboratory have devised this solution. They are currently examining it’s cost effectiveness to deploy in places like Africa.
This solution seems to be working better than my current one:
Kogi BBQ truck, Naranja, stopped by Irvine the other day. Good food if you can withstand the 2 hour wait from line to getting a Kogi Slider into your mouth.
I saw these guys in the alley outside the office having a good time skating so I decided to hook them up with some FIVE THIRTY tee’s and stickers, they seemed pretty stoked because they immediately put the shirts on… they even let me take a few pics for our blog. BTW we still have a few of these OBEYx530 collab shirts left — you can pick one up in our online store.
I have had some form of Ministry’s Psalm 69 (cd, mp3, cassette) in my car stereo since 1992, it’s the perfect album to compliment road rage. Thank you to Kevin for sharing this with me, I will put this on my list next to the Motorhead documentary.
Last year we decided that instead of buying a bunch of small gifts for everyone at 530medialab we would just buy one awesome gift that we could all use, you might remember last years Lego Death Star, this year we decided on a Flip HD video camera. Hopefully we can start catching all the Long Beach craziness in full HD video… should make for some great blog posts.

@nateog Work Now, Sleep Later is indeed our motto. And yes, it is very hard to forget. Especially when I have it tattooed on my wrists. » Aug 31, 2010
