Our friend Kenta came by for a visit to show off his fancy car, drop off some tiny business cards, and talk about how ASR is a better show then E3. Kenta is continuing to work on his online magazine, Tokyo Drive. A good read for all things concerning parties we’ll never get into, cars we’ll never drive, and Japanese fashion moguls we’ll never meet. Always good to meet up with Kenta and here about his newest escapades.

Kenta telling me about how great this 370Z is to drive in the canyons.

Every time we see Kenta he is driving some rad car (remember that time he was doing 140 down the 405 in the IS-F on an empty tank?). This visit Kenta is driving the 370Z Nismo, he says it’s an awesome drive. We’ll take his word for it.

City by the Bay

We took a trip to the bay to visit The Hundreds SF to install the new PhotoBooth. We also took this opportunity to meet up with Benny Gold. While we have been big fans of his work and followed his brand we had never met up with him. Benny is a stand up guy, and a great designer. We hope to get the opportunity to do something with Benny down the road.

Other Clients

Based on recent blog postings, you would think The Hundreds was our only client, not the case. Recently we started became the digital AOR for Globe, including Globe Surf, and Globe Skate, along with Dwindle, Speed Demons, Enjoi, Almost, Darkstar, Blind, and Tensor. Right now we are in the process of getting the hosting for all of the sites under control with our friends at (mt) Media Temple. Once the server transition is final and we have everything running, we will start the development of many new sites. Stay tuned for more.

I Have Waited a LONG Time for These

This morning UPS made me a happy person, he delivered my S/Double Service Shoe. For those who don’t know, S/Double is Shawn Stussy’s new brand, and these shoes are everything I wanted them to be and more. I have been searching for the perfect shoe, something not to dressy but at the same time not too casual. The S/Double Service Shoe is the perfect combination of both. If you can’t tell by now, I am VERY excited to have these shoes in my hands, now to put them on my feet. At this point I need to address my other shoes:

Dear Converse Chuck Taylor,
I’m sorry, you and I go way back and this is going to hurt me more then it hurts you, but theirs someone else. No, it’s nothing you did. There was nothing you said. I feel we just have grown apart. We can still be friends. It’s not like I am asking for a divorce, I just want don’t think I can commit to you any longer. This new shoe just represents a new beginning for me, well not so much new but just rekindling an affair from 10 years ago. I will always have a place for you in my closet Converse, and I promise I will still bring you out, probably on the weekend with shorts, or when we are working around the house. Those were always special times for us. I hope you understand.

Dear Shawn, thank you for making this shoe. I will wear these shoes with pride. Also, thank you for the note, very much appreciated.

Agenda vs Huntington Beach

Yesterday we ventured out to a city called Huntington Beach, just 3 cities south of Long Beach yet it seemed like another world. I think I grew up in that city, but it has changed since then, and by change I mean it is nothing like anything I remember. We were there to take in the Agenda show, see the sites, and say hello to our friends (Obey, The Hundreds, Mosley Tribes, Vestal, Proper, Hall of Fame). The show seemed like a huge success, this is the first time the show has been at this venue and judging by the amount of people at exhibitors there were I think they will be back.

A man with a plan, Scott Turner aka Switch. Hopefully HBPD let you get home without an escort.

Noodles vs. Tacos

Erik and I headed down to to Santa Ana to meet up with Triumvir/Caked Out crew for a lunch, discussion, and general mocking of Brian for not paying attention to any of the previous. The guys took us to a noodle spot in a strip mall across from Kitsch bar, I would tell you the name but I don’t know it. The best part of having friends that speak fluent Chinese is the access we get to restaurants that we could not normally go to, and if we did we would be greeted with silverware and a Coke. Good call on this spot guys, we look forward to going back. As for our discussions, they went very well and sometime in November you will be able to see the result of those talks.

@triumvir (Brandon) and @triumvirbrian (Brian, when he was actually alert)

Vincent and @triumvirlerche (Brian)

Yummy goodness that Erik did not share.

This is the Droid you are looking for…

Last week we received a a delivery from our friend Benjie Escobar. Benjie sent us over his newest print, Baby D2, along with his newest project 400ml Spray Can(dle)s. Benjie’s new print is an homage to Star Wars, and  Lady of Quadalupe fans, which makes it perfect for our walls. The detail on the candle is amazing, although what was billed as “Fresh Scent”  reminded us more of a not so fresh scent. Regardless of the smell it is a great piece that has already found a spot on my bookcase. Both pieces are available on Benjie’s site, support local artist!
